Ms. Black truly has a gift for storytelling. If I was previously in love with Dorian, after reading the story from his POV I went a step beyond that, whatever that may be! He feels so real and palpable, dark and sensual, all at the same time. It was an absolute enjoyable change to hear the story being told with a more mature tone as opposed to Cora’s sometimes petulant voice.
Dorian’s background history dragged a bit but I think it was in part because I wanted it to get to the specific time when he and Cora meet, or at least to the when and how they make the scientific discovery of turning a human into a cognate. I also would have liked to know more about the agnates and Dorian’s people, past and present, and their culture, per se, through his eyes.
All in all, a terrific story, and if you're new to the series, this would be a good start as it tells everything about Dorian and the bond, however I strongly recommend to start with at least Life Blood (Cora’s Choice, #1) which is currently FREE, as it takes you deeper into their story.

“Cora Shaw stepped inside, and my mind snapped into place with a suddenness that was almost like a slap. And the only thing in the world was her.”
The First Book of the Third Billionaire Vampire Serial- with a bonus FULL copy of the book Life Blood included.
A Dark Vampire. A Desperate Gamble.
Centuries of isolation and self-denial have left Dorian Thorne a half-living shadow. He can't survive without living blood. Yet all those who have given to him in the past three centuries have died from his kiss.
Cora Shaw seems different. Another human, yes, like all the others. But she awakens sensations in him that he had given up for lost. And he almost dares to hope that she might be the one he has been waiting for all this time.
Without his blood-kiss, she will be dead in a matter of months from her terminal disease. With it, she will die instantly…unless she bonds with him as his consort, making him whole again.
Bonding is something he can’t control, but it’s the only thing that will save them both now. Cora can’t refuse him. And if she’s doomed, Dorian can’t save her.
It’s the ultimate gamble, and the stakes are forever.
