*Long sigh* I don’t know how she does it but every single time I open up a book, or in this case, start my e-reader, and start reading one of Erin Kellison’s stories, she takes me to a place of myth, magic, and fantasy of epic proportions. Granted, not everyone will agree with me but I love her storytelling, the way she weaves reality and fantasy to create worlds and characters that make me want to jump into the pages and be part of their universe.
Powerful and ancient shifter dragon Thane Ealdian wants nothing more to avenge the murder of his wife and child before his last shift. He’s fighting with all his might the call of his nature to prevent the change because he knows if he changes before he finds the murderer, he will not be able to bring him or her to justice… or eat them to his heart’s content. To his annoyance, someone else may have a claim on what he says belongs to him and so enter Emerson Clark, a young shifter with secrets of her own and someone that has made Thane realize it may not be his last shift after all.
We know this is a romance therefore it will have a HEA but the story was plenty engrossing and fascinating with all the suspense and twists thrown in. I also liked it that there are plenty of other paranormal creatures and the story doesn’t just focus on the romance but in the interaction of the characters and creatures in a human world. Like I said, plenty to like here.

Dragon shifter Thane Ealdian has waited six hundred years to avenge the loss of his family, and finally a clue has surfaced that implicates an old adversary. Thane will stop at nothing to seek his revenge, but to prevent violence between the clans, the Bloodkin Triad has forced a mediator on him. Some upstart named Emerson Clark…
Emerson is fed up with all Bloodkin and how they’ve managed to control every aspect of her life. While she doesn’t believe that Bloodkin can shift into dragons–because, really?–she has to admit, they are exceptionally nice to look at. But once the mediation is over, she wants nothing to do with them ever again.
When Thane discovers that the clever and beautiful Emerson is the key to uncovering the truth, he has no intention of letting her go. Although she wants to run, she can’t turn her back on Thane or her intense feelings for him. His quest pulls at her heart, just as his nearness sparks something dangerous inside her. With evil in hot pursuit, sooner or later everything will ignite–the mediation, the shifter within her… and their passions.
